Chapter Seven
The reservation was almost a thirty minute drive, but they were able to make it there in fifteen as Rakshasa sped through the traffic. Sharad jumped out, took off his shirt and threw it into the car and slammed the door shut. "Ahtah!" He roared, shifting into his half tiger, half man form.
Almost immediately a swarm of wolves rushed towards him, some shifting as they ran.
Rakshasa put a hand on his brother, forcing him to shift back into his human form. "We wish to speak to your Alpha!" His other hand was extended to the werewolves, causing them to cringe back.
A kid, only about eleven, stood on the top of the main lodge with a rifle aimed at Rakshasa's head. "Hold, stranger. Sharad, I know what you're here for; shift again and we will tear you apart. Do you understand?"
Sharad turned to his brother. "That's Atreyu. He's the bastard's son."
"I can hear you, Sharad," Atreyu said, putting his finger on the trigger.
"Yeah! All right!" Sharad yelled. "Just take me to my daughter! I know you have her!"
Atreyu nodded to the wolves and they parted, allowing Sharad and Rakshasa to walk into a large house. Once inside they were taken to a large office where Patma was energetically talking to three other native girls her age. She broke off when she saw them come in. "Datty!" she yelled, running over to her father.
There was a man sitting in a large chair, his feet on his desk. He sneered at them, and motioned for the other children to be taken out of the room. Atreyu came in and propped himself on the desk as well, "Patma, do you wanna go get some ice cream while these guys talk about boring business?"
Patma tugged on her dad. "Please, Datty?!"
Sharad looked conflicted, and he struggled with keeping his emotions in check. "Okay, baby. We're gonna go home right after, okay?"
"Oh, but Datty, I wanna stay and play with the Lycans! They're so cute!"
"No, Patma!" Sharad yelled, but seeing his daughter's eyes water he quickly changed his tone. "Sweetie, we need to get home, ok?"
"Come on, Patma." Atreyu offered his hand to her. When Rakshasa caught Atreyu's scent, he grabbed his talisman. He looked between the father and son, confused.
Once Patma had left the room, Ahtahkakoop cracked his neck and smiled at Sharad. "It's hard to get your attention; I had to give you a message you couldn't ignore."
"I don't owe you so much that you can just steal my daughter!" Sharad yelled. "I can't believe you would do something so," he made a disgusted face, "evil."
Ahtahkakoop smiled at them. "Your daughter is very sweet, it would be a shame if something happened to her. I mean that. Truly."
Rakshasa put a duffle bag on the table. "This is half of what my brother owes you. He will give you the other hundred thousand in two weeks. I will make sure of it myself."
"Do that, or I will have my son pick Patma up again for another little play date.
